Mid-Year Makeover Via Razzled Star Designs

Just yesterday, the blog was a beautiful mix of orange, pink, and turquoise courtesy of Lisseth @ Read-A-HolicZ. After weeks of pondering, I finally decided that it was time for a new, less feminine design. I willingly admit that I had a better idea of what I wanted this time around and was therefore much more picky. Lisseth went through a total of five designs before I finally made a decision.

I almost cringed every time I emailed back to tell her something wasn't quite right but she never seemed the least bit bothered and kept working with me until we landed on the perfect design. As you've probably noticed, the new design features a shot of space and two worlds, which I felt adequately captured the sci-fi fantasy tone I was seeking (especially with the font Lisseth chose to use for the blog title).

Unfortunately, I neglected to express all of my desires to Lisseth in the beginning which probably added to the number of designs we sent through. Here's a glimpse of the first:

I liked this one but, as you can probably tell, it wasn't what I was hoping for. I gave more details and Lisseth came back with two completely new designs, which I also liked and I almost chose one of them but, again they weren't quite right. At this point, I decided to brave it and tell Lisseth part of where I wanted to go with the blog and (per her request I'm sure since I was being so picky) gave her a list of blogs and websites that matched the tone I wanted.

Let it be noted, that trusting Lisseth with a more detailed idea of where I wanted to go with the blog was the best decision I made. The next design was the first version of what is currently on the blog. It was smaller and the font was different. The fifth design was created shortly thereafter and was a serious contender but the fourth one had taken more of a hold on me than I'd realized.

I compared the last two designs side by side and made my decision. Much like last time, I had some reservations, but they disappeared the moment Lisseth showed me the final blog design on her test site. If these design experiences have taught me anything, it's to trust your gut. More often than not, your initial reaction will tell you everything you need to know about the design. Seeing it on the test site confirmed my decision, which was then later affirmed by the gasp that escaped my mouth when it went live here.

If you're looking for a new design on your blogger site, I'd definitely ask Lisseth. She's wonderful to work with, talented, and affordable.

What do you think of the new design?
