Top Ten Tuesday: Cover Trends

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week I'm sharing the top ten book cover trends I prefer.

Here we have a dark background with two specific colors popping out at you and I simply adore that technique.

With this one there's a lot of moody background with a single person as a focus. My favorite part is quite possibly the fact that the person is smaller here than on most covers.

I love how the black and white and the yellow and green come together on this novel. It's absolutely brilliant.

I won't lie, I love the dress. It's my favorite part. But I also like how there are vines reaching up from the corners towards it.

Again, we have brighter colors against a dark background but this time there's just a little something else hiding behind the cover's bigger focus.

Well... do I need to say much? Most covers don't have people holding weapons on them, add to that the fact that this has a rockin' background and, well... there isn't much left to say.

I love the sort of hosh posh look here. It really fits the novel and is pretty all at the same time.

Instead of this one coming out from a large black background like Puppet Parade, it's a mostly green one with spots of red and blue that really just pop out at you. And look, there's Morpheus!

First of all, look at that dress. Second, see how her fingers curve over the "R" and kind of seem to pop out of the cover? And third, she could either be standing or kneeling. This entire cover is really quite clever.

This is the same technique Shards & Ashes has. Big background with a much smaller person at the bottom. It adds a certain mood to it.
