Friday Couple: Alyssa & Morpheus

Last week, Eugenia talked about Pip & Rosie from The Rosie Black Chronicles by Lara Morgan. If you missed it, you can read it here.
It's been a couple of weeks since I've written a Friday Couple but I decided that I'd come back with my thoughts on Alyssa & Morpheus from Unhinged and Splintered by A.G. Howard. I totally ship them so I'll try to be as objective as possible.
Alyssa is a free soul. Her time spent in Wonderland really allowed her to let herself go and just be her. There were moments when the pressure and stress just disappeared and she was the wild netherling she was meant to be. At the same time though, Alyssa loves the human world too and that keeps her grounded, which can be a good and a bad thing. But Alyssa is flexible and responds pretty well to things out of the ordinary or changed plans, which is an especially important trait when it comes to Morpheus.
Morpheus is a very wild netherling. His time in Wonderland has basically taught him no constraint. He's manipulative and takes advantage of others' weaknesses. He often goes too far with these skills and this gets him into a lot of trouble. The constraint the human world has taught Alyssa is extremely important when it comes to her reactions when he goes too far over the line. But he's also loyal to his friends, even if his methods are questionable. He needs someone that can ground him, even if it is ever so slightly. He also needs someone who can manipulate at his same level and Alyssa is quickly achieving that skill. Plus, Alyssa sees his love for her, even though it's greatly covered by his mistakes and tactics.
Morpheus brings out the free and wild netherling side of Alyssa and I love him for it. (Perhaps I love them more because I want to see Alyssa stay in Wonderland.) But Morpheus can be pretty selfish and isn't as open-minded about the human world as he should or could be. Like Jeb, he kind of isolates one side of her. Jeb is pretty perfect for her human side and Morpheus is perfect for her netherling side.
All in all, objectively, I think Morpheus and Jeb are basically in the same boat. They aren't perfect but both are good for her, just for different reasons. And Alyssa is good for both of them.
I still passionately ship Alyssa & Morpheus though.
