Happy Thanksgiving - I'm Going Self-Hosted!

Things have been mighty quiet on the blog front for the past month. In the past year, Chasm of Books has undergone quite a few changes but this is one of the biggest. After nearly three years of blogging on Blogger, I've finally made the decision to move to self-hosted WordPress using NoseGraze's hosting and maintenance services!

Why Move?

I've been contemplating moving to WordPress off and on for probably about a year so far. I've been lucky enough to have some awesome designs while I've blogged on blogger, but blogger isn't as easy to customize as I would like with my level of knowledge and I really feel like Wordpress has the power and capabilities I'm looking for and will help take Chasm of Books to the next level.

When Do You Get to See It?

While everything won't be fixed, I'm going to get quite a few articles fixed up over the weekend. If everything goes according to plan,  you'll all see the new site some time next week.

Is there Anything You Need to Know?

Definitely. Until I get all of the reviews set up, the review tab will be a bit empty. Getting the reviews all set up is one of my first priorities but it will take some time before everything will show up in there. Have no worries though, you should be able to find anything I've reviewed in the past by using the search bar.

Until I go through every blog post on the blog (over 700 of them!), some of the formatting will be off and a few pictures may not be showing up. If you see any of this, let me know and I'll resolve it as soon as possible.

Chasm of Books will also have a homepage! This is definitely one of the new features that I'm most excited about. As I get settled into using Wordpress, you may see some changes but I'm hoping to get anything that will drastically change the site resolved over the weekend.

Giveaway

Over the last month there's been a Blackhearts giveaway on Twitter! Yesterday was the last day to enter and the winner was chosen earlier today. There'll be a few more giveaways for Castroman's debut novel, some on Twitter some on the blog. The next one will be international so keep your eyes peeled!

  1. I made the move to self-hosted about a year ago - for the most part I like it :)

    1. There's big learning curve right now and I'm just trying to get as many articles reformatted and as many reviews indexed as possible right.
